BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS  – Artist Statement

“My friend, Peter Cushman, is a college running coach and budding novelist currently living in California.  For the past several years, I have had the opportunity to read much of his writing, most of which has been short stories.   When he sent me the description for his short story entitled Weight, I found the theme and plot to be particularly poignant, and I wanted to contribute.  When I expressed interest in illustrating the short story, we began work – and through emailing, conversations, editing and image sharing, the story had grown into a Novella – a short novel or a long short-story, which was published in 2014.  Here are the illustrations included in the novella.”
